A place for everyday people to joyfully navigate their unscripted lives, together.

Alameda's first community improv space where everyday people practice real-life skills through improvisation.

Because feeling more alive, more human, and more connected shouldn't be a rare experience—it should be a regular practice.

we’re NOT YOUR TYPICAL IMPROV SCHOOL

Most improv spaces focus on performance—getting funnier, building to a show, impressing an audience. We focus on practice—getting more present, building real connections, strengthening the skills that make daily life easier and more fulfilling.

what makes us different:

Line drawing of a girl flexing her arm with a smile, wearing a headband and sleeveless top, with the text "Practice, Not Performance" below.
Illustration of a hand making a finger gun gesture with lines indicating it is pointing, surrounded by a circle, with the text "Real Life Skills" below.
Magnifying glass icon with the text 'Focus Areas, Not Levels' beneath it.
A minimalistic icon of a person with a speech bubble that says 'NEWBIE' and an upward arrow. Text below reads 'ZERO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY'.

Circular sign with beige background, teal text, and one red word that says, "We don't require you to be funny to belong here. We require you to be human!"

Claire Slattery is an improviser, facilitator, and community cultivator who believes life’s better when we stop trying to script it. After years of performing, teaching, and leading in both creative and corporate spaces, she founded Improv Central to create a home for everyday people to practice presence, play, and bold connection.

Claire brings big-hearted energy, a love of weird joy, and a deep belief that everyone is an improviser—whether you're parenting, presenting, or just trying to feel more like yourself. She created this space because she needed it, too. And she’s right there in it with you.
